The Campsite   

The campsite is part of the farm estate “de Vledders” that originated on the heathlands some two hundred years ago from reclamation, it was then turned into a farm and is now a campsite surrounded by woods, heathland and meadows. Woven into the incredibly beautiful landscape of the unspoiled Drentsche Aa valley.

It is this landscape in particular that inspired us to develop the campsite into one that merges with its surroundings. Site management and maintenance is given a great deal of attention. The natural surroundings are the decisive factor here.

The result is a site without the trappings but with excellent basic facilities. All the buildings were designed in the ‘old-fashioned’ way: solidly. The layout of the site is very varied with play areas at various locations.

The main recreational lake (30,000 m²) with its sandy beach is an absolute topper. The beach offers fun for the children, or relaxation for the sun-worshippers. You can enjoy floating around on a boat or sailboard. The lake is also great for fishing or a peaceful place to simply relax and daydream on a bench while the sun goes down.

And in the evening dusk you will hear the owls and see the bats skimming over your tent or caravan. When it becomes dark everything goes quiet and an orientation light helps you find your way around. There is a sense of being at one with nature, of being away from the daily hustle and bustle; no stress for a while!
